Hello everyone! Before I start, I just wanted to let you all know that I will not be posting next week. I am taking a short break to enjoy Christmas, New years and just generally recharge. So for my last post of this year, I thought I’d do a short recap of my writing journey so far.

I began my journey right here, with the post An Introduction: Into The Unknown, posted on the 8th of May. Now, I wasn’t really sure what I was doing, I was unfamiliar with WordPress. All I knew was that I wanted to get my writing out there for all to read. I was so nervous about posting it that I almost didn’t. But I am so glad that I did. Since that post, I received some amazing support from the writing community here, and I feel that my writing skill has grown because of it. I may have changed my direction slightly since that post, but I feel that it is because I am learning. I am learning what I need to do to achieve my dreams of being a successful writer. And now, at post number 54, I’m still going strong.

My first short fiction series that I started here was The Hunter. This was actually one of the first things that I ever wrote and has always been one of my favourites. It was a dark fantasy tale of vampires, werewolves and warriors. For an early post, it received some nice feedback. The series, however, did not last long. This was because I felt it drifting in a direction that I wasn’t entirely happy with. The good news is, I had always planned on fixing that. The Hunter has now morphed into my first feature-length web series and my debut novella, as I’m sure that most of you have seen by now. (If not, you can find the links at the bottom of the page.)

One of my first posts that really started attracting readers was, Becoming A Writer: What I Have Learned So Far. In all honesty, I wrote that post in about half an hour, while sunbathing in some unusually hot British weather. It was mainly a collection of musings and things that I thought other new writers might find helpful. I’m happy with how it turned out and even happier that some of you found it inspirational. It was probably the post that made me want to write more, because of the reaction that I received from it.

The final post that I am going to reflect on is the one that I was most afraid to post. You’ve probably guessed already, it was Why I Write. This was the first post that I wrote that really revealed anything about myself on a personal level. It was about my general struggle with mental illness and how writing helps me to cope. The support that I got from this post was truly overwhelming, and I think that it showed how great the community here truly is. Since that post, I’m not going to go too much into it, but I can honestly say that I am in a much better place.

I think that’s enough about the past, now a bit about the future. I am planning on releasing two books next year, both in digital form and paperback. The first of which is already well in the process of editing. It will be a short story collection, featuring improved versions of some of the stories from here as well as a bunch of exclusive ones! The second book that I plan on releasing is my first novel, The Hunter, that will follow on from my novella, The Hunter: Monster Within. I will of course, still be uploading monthly to Channillo and weekly posts will carry on right here.

To close this off, I just want to say a huge thank you to those that are following my writing journey. Whether it’s on here, Facebook, Twitter or Channillo, you are all amazing. I hope that everyone has a Happy Holidays, filled with time spent with loved ones, too much food and way too much alcohol. Whatever you do, relax, be happy and be awesome. 😊
